One of Switzerland's most famous natural wonders is the Matterhorn, a majestic mountain that attracts tourists from all over the world. But what many people don't realize is that the area surrounding the Matterhorn is also a perfect destination for outdoor activities and adventure.
Located in the Zermatt region, Matterhorn Paradise is a popular destination among skiers and snowboarders during winter. But even in spring, when most of the slopes are closed, there are still plenty of things to do in Matterhorn Paradise. One of the main attractions is the Matterhorn Glacier Cable Car, which takes you up to an altitude of 12,740 feet above sea level. The cable car is a technological marvel, with its two cabins that rotate 360 degrees, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The ride takes about 45 minutes, during which you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and take photos.
Once you reach the summit station of the cable car, you will be greeted with a stunning view of the Matterhorn, which is visible from all angles. Here, you can step onto the observation deck and admire the panoramic view of the Alpine landscape. The vista is breathtaking, with its snow-capped peaks and green alpine meadows. You can also see Italy and France from this viewpoint. VIEWING CAN VARY! If you don’t go on a sunny day, chances are you wont be able to see the other mountains or Matterhorn from above.
For those seeking more adventure, Matterhorn Paradise has plenty to offer. There are several hiking trails that start at the summit station, ranging from easy and family-friendly walks to more challenging alpine hikes. You can also try your hand at skiing or snowboarding on one of the remaining slopes or take a guided mountaineering tour.
Matterhorn Paradise is a true alpine playground that offers endless opportunities for adventure, exploration, and relaxation.
At the time of this blog, I was there during the month of May, therefore most of the ski slopes were closed.
