Traveling to Tanzania and Kenya

Planning a safari to Africa, especially Tanzania, offers a unique experience filled with wildlife, luxurious accommodations, and once-in-a-lifetime adventures. My recent journey from the plains of the Serengeti to the white sands of Zanzibar, with a stay at Kenya’s Giraffe Manor, provided everything you could dream of in an African safari. Here’s an overview of my trip, including the top-notch vendors that made it possible.

Day 1-2: Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya

After a long journey from the United States, I touched down in Nairobi. My accommodation for the night was the Best Western Plus Highlands, a comfortable and convenient stop before the real adventure began. Transportation was a breeze, with a quick ride to the hotel, where I relaxed and enjoyed a quiet dinner.

Day 3-4: The Magical Giraffe Manor

Giraffe Manor is a place that needs no introduction. Known for its Instagram-worthy moments and intimate encounters with giraffes, this boutique hotel exceeded all my expectations. I was picked up at 11:30 AM and whisked away to this incredible sanctuary.

From afternoon tea with the giraffes to a candle-lit dinner, every moment at Giraffe Manor was special. Waking up with these gentle giants peering into my window at 5:30 AM was an experience I'll never forget. The stay included all meals and transportation, making it an unforgettable part of the trip.

Day 5-7: Safari in the Serengeti

The next leg of my journey took me to Tanzania. I boarded a Kenya Airways flight to Kilimanjaro Airport and then a one-hour transfer to Arusha, where my safari adventure began with Safari Soles. This safari package included transportation, meals, and flights within Tanzania.

The Serengeti is every bit as wild and beautiful as you've imagined. From the moment I touched down on the Serengeti airstrip, I was surrounded by wildlife. The first day alone brought sightings of cheetahs, lions, and herds of zebras and wildebeests.

One of the highlights was an early morning balloon safari over the Serengeti, a surreal experience that included breakfast on the plains. Later, we traveled south to the Ngorongoro Crater, where I stayed at Lions Paw, a luxurious camp nestled in the heart of the crater.

Day 8-10: Relaxing in Zanzibar

After the thrilling days on safari, it was time to unwind on the beautiful island of Zanzibar. A short flight brought me to the Safaya Luxury Village, where I spent three blissful days exploring the island and its rich culture.

Zanzibar is not just about relaxation; it's also a culinary paradise. A highlight was lunch at The Rock Restaurant, a world-famous spot perched on a rock in the Indian Ocean. Fresh lobster and chicken skewers with a side of stunning views made this a meal to remember.

Day 11: Departure and Reflections

The final day was spent enjoying a leisurely breakfast in my room, a complimentary gesture from Safaya Luxury Village. After a few extra hours at the hotel, I was transported to the airport for my flight back to Nairobi and onward to Paris, Atlanta, and finally home.
